Return

But there is always promise of the return and, perhaps, the reminder that our own bodies are our limits, that knowing the crosses that others bare is a difficult task.

"Now from his breast into his eyes the ache
of longing mounted, and he wept at last,
his dear wife, clear and faithful, in his arms,
longed for as the sunwarmed earth is longed for by a swimmer
spent in rough water where his ship went down
under Poseidon's blows, gale winds and tons of sea.
Few men can keep alive through a big surf
to crawl, clotted with brine, on kindly beaches
in joy, in joy, knowing the abyss behind:
and so she too rejoiced, her gaze upon her husband,
her white arms round him pressed as though forever."

Homer

Jamie, what a great quote from the Odyssey!

I know I can't do or say anything to help you miss Scott less, but I do hope that the time apart flies by and that your reunion comes speedily, even if not earlier than anticipated.

It is definitely a sacrifice of love...to encourage your heart to leave you to do what will make it happy. Just know that you're an amazing wife for it (Army plaque or no).
