Ring of Fire

I have hopped through another hoop on the Road to the PhD. Comps are over (and passed), and now we move on to the Orals.

For those of you who aren't sure where that leaves me--

I have finished the following:

• 24 hours, including at least two 800-level seminars and one class in critical theory
• Qualifying exam in the major field
  
• Reading knowledge of 2 foreign languages
  
• Doctoral committee
  
• Filed program of study
  
• Filed reading lists for major and minor field
  
• Written comprehensive exams: one in the major field and one in the minor field
  

I am still working on the following:

• Oral exam in the major field
• Written dissertation prospectus
• Oral defense of dissertation prospectus
• 12 hours of ENGL 899
• Completion of dissertation
• Oral dissertation defense
