Catch Up

It's not just a delicious condiment made by Heinz...

December 2004:

We graduate (Jamie MA, Scott BS)
January 2005-June 2005:
We substitute teach in Kiski Area School District (Vandergrift, PA)
May 2005:
We decide to marry.
Scott decides to join the Army.
June 2005:
We marry.
Scott joins the military and ships off for boot camp.
July 2005:
I accept a job teaching middle school in Gilbert, SC and move to Columbia.
August 2005:
Scott graduates basic training--soldier of the cycle.
I hate my job. (four co-taught classes)
Scott ships to AIT in VA.
September-December 2005:
I continue hating my job.
Scott continues at AIT.
December 2005:
Having finished AIT, Scott surprises me by showing up unannounced.
We adopt a dog; it has parvo and dies.
We take our last whirlwind Christmas vacation tour of the Northeast.
January 2006:
Scott and I sneak into the English department at the University of South Carolina on the last possible day to turn in my application for the PhD program.
March 2006:
We adopt two cats--Wendy and Pumpkin.
May 2006:
I am offered a position teaching Gifted English at Dreher High School in Columbia, which I ultimately turn down because I get into the PhD program.
July 2006:
We move across town--closer to base.
We adopt Savannah.
August 2006:
Scott goes to airborne school.
I begin graduate school.
October 2006:
We adopt Jack.
Scott goes to AIT.
I have severe doubts about graduate school.
December 2006:
I survive my first semester of graduate school.
March 2007:
Scott becomes a sergeant and wins Ft. Jackson's NCO of the Year Award.
I pass my comprehensive exams and am admitted into PhD candidacy.
April 2007:
Scott competes in the TRADOC NCO competition, but does not win. We are not that sad since it takes a lot of time out of our lives.
May 2007:
I complete my second semester of the program.
May 2007-November 2007:
Life continues as usual.
November 2007:
Scott reenlists for South Korea (where he will report on 28 February 2009).
December 2007:
I complete the third semester of graduate school.
Scott wonders when he'll get moved into a new shop at work.
May 2008:
I complete my fourth semester of graduate school and all of my coursework.
I foolishly take a maymester class.
July 2008:
Scott trucks along.
I procrastinate by starting a blog. =)

I would like to point out that this blog entry makes no mention of my meeting Doug, a very important event indeed. I feel slighted. I may just have to go create my own blog, but I have nothing from which to procrastinate.

August 2007: Grandma dies, and we meet Randi's boyfriend, Doug, but we decide to make up a story of how we met since we all agree that it's kind of lame we met at grandma's funeral.

Sometime in spring 2006: Randi meets Doug. When exactly they started dating is a point of contention.
